The IP address is an important identifier for your device. Make sure the person you provide this information to is trustworthy and actually needs it.

The IP (Internet Protocol) address is a unique number assigned to each device, such as a computer, tablet, or phone, when it connects to the internet. The standard version used in most cases is IPv4, but more recently, there is the IPv6 protocol.
Currently, two versions of the Internet Protocol are in use: IP Version 4 (IPv4) and IP Version 6 (IPv6). They have two main functions: identification and location addressing. The main difference between IPv4 and IPv6 lies in the number of possible addresses, which results from the address length. IPv4 uses only 32 bits, while IPv6 uses 128 bits.
When you search for your IP address online, you will find your public (or global) address. Similar to how all apartments in a block share the same street address, all devices in the same network (laptop, smartphone, tablet) use the same public IP address. This address is assigned by the Internet Service Provider and is visible to everyone..
On the other hand, each device in a network needs a unique identifier to communicate within the network, similar to specific apartment numbers in a block. Therefore, the router assigns each device private (or local) IP addresses. Unlike the public IP address, the private IP address is not visible to third parties on the internet.
Unlike the IP addresses of large companies (Google, Facebook), which are static, your home IP address is dynamic and changes frequently with each connection. DDNS helps by assigning a customized domain name (hostname) to your home IP address, which will be automatically updated by your router as your home IP continues to change.
In conclusion, DDNS helps you route the dynamic home IP to a given hostname.
We offer the DDNS service for free to Zooku customers! If you already have an active service with us, the option is enabled in the control panel.
